Ryan O’Hallaran at CSN Washington reports:

The Redskins revealed their plans to honor victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks for Sunday’s game.

General Colin Powell will serve as the Redskins’ honorary captain for the pregame coin toss; 150 people impacted by the terrorist attack on the Pentagon as well as first responders will stand alongside players from both teams holding an American flag that will cover the entire field; all fans will receive American flags; all Redskins’ on-field/sideline personnel will wear an NFL 9/11 pin or patch; recording artist Ne-Yo will perform the national anthem.

I think all of the above is great but, Ne-Yo? On a day that’s supposed to be about country, the Redskins choose to go with the entertainment value instead. I can’t believe they couldn’t find someone in the military to belt out the National Anthem like this Gunnery Sergent below.
